Pennsylvania, U.S. Virgin Islands To Substantially Implement Provisions Of The Adam Walsh Act

The Justice Department’s Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) recently announced that Pennsylvania and the U.S. Virgin Islands are the latest jurisdictions to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.

The Act is named in memory of Adam Walsh, a 6-year-old boy, who was abducted from a mall in Hollywood, Fla. on July 27, 1981. Full Article

I am a Pennsylvania convicted SO who accepted a plea bargain to register under Megan’s Law for 10 years. My probation is up soon, and I have been registering for almost 8 years now, with just two years to go. BUT–now that PA is implementing SORNA in December 2012, I will have to register ANOTHER 5 years! This doesn’t seem fair to me.

Also — if they’re going to register all sex offenders, shouldn’t they also register other groups–for example, people with DUI or drug convictions? It seems to me that they are at LEAST as dangerous to kids as CSOs, many of whom are non-violent and committed no hands-on offense.

All RSO’s and their friends and others who feel the laws and policy of America are persecutory should BOYCOTT ALL US PRODUCTS.

60% of the US economy depends on the retail consumer.

People opposed to RSO policy amount to a few million at least.
